The crucifixion and death of Jesus Christ

For a long time, inhuman warriors mocked innocent Sufferer. Finally, they placed a huge cross on His shoulders and ordered Him to carry it to Golgotha.

The tortured and bloody Savior carried the cross on the mountainous road, on which He was to be crucified. Barely or barely He walked, bending and falling under the weight of the burden. The soldiers did not let Him rest and, as He stopped, began to drive Him again with whips and sticks.

The crowds of people accompanied Jesus Christ and wept loudly.

But there was Golgotha. The soldiers put up a cross and began their wickedness. They tore off Christ’s garments and nailed His hands and feet to the cross with large sharp nails, put a crown of thorn on His head for mockery, and nailed a plaque with the inscription: “Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews. And on the right and left side of the cross of the Lord, the soldiers crucified two more robbers.

You know, children, that Christ is truly the Son of God and King of the world. But the Jews did not believe that and laughed. And the chief priests with the scribes and Pharisees, looking at the humbled and crucified Lord, gloated loudly and triumphed over their victory. There were anger and revenge all around.

The Savior bore terrible pains, but He did not insult the tormentors with a single word. On the contrary, He prayed for them and said:

– God forgive them, they do not understand what they are doing.

The Son of God suffered such tortures to teach us meekness and patience, to teach us to forgive the offense and love all people. And if we do so, Christ rejoices. But if we are evil and do bad things, He is also sorrowful and suffering, for He cannot take evil people to Himself in the kingdom of heaven.

The crucifixion of Jesus Christ

While suffering on the cross, the Savior heard the soldiers laughing at him. Even one of the robbers hanging on the cross next to Him told Him:

– If you are the Son of God, come down from the cross and save yourself and us.

But another robber answered him:

– Are you not afraid of God? We are punished for our evil deeds, and this Righteous One did nothing wrong.

Then, turning to Jesus Christ, he added:

– Remember me, Lord, when you come into your heavenly kingdom. The Savior saw that this robber had repented of his sins and believed…

He is the Son of God, and so he answered him:

– Truly, I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.

At the time of the crucifixion, the Mother of God was inseparably near the cross of Christ. She cried at the sight of the suffering of her beloved Son. Her heart was torn with sorrow. The Savior loved His Most Holy Mother. He did not want to leave her alone on earth, so he pointed his eyes at John’s disciple and told her:

– Let him be your son, and then said to John, “This is your Mother”.

Then, sensing death approaching, the Savior said:

– Father, I place my soul in your hands. – and immediately died.

By the evening of this day, a devout man named Joseph of Arimathea had removed the body of the Lord from the cross, wrapped it in a clean cloth, and buried it in a new cave in his garden, in Gethsemane.
